Mainz
Mainz is the capital and largest city of the state of Rhineland-Palatinate in Germany. It was the capital of the Electorate of Mainz at the time of the Holy Roman Empire. In antiquity Mainz was a Roman fort city which commanded the west bank of the Rhine and formed part of the northernmost frontier of the Roman Empire; it was founded as a military post by the Romans in the late 1st century BC and became the provincial capital of Germania Superior. The city is located on the river Rhine at its confluence with the Main opposite Wiesbaden, in the western part of the Frankfurt Rhine-Main; in the modern age, Frankfurt shares much of its regional importance.

Funding towards Immunology
The Academy of Finland, the German Research Foundation (DFG) and the National Natural Science Foundation of China (NSFC) have agreed to provide funding to joint projects between Finnish, German and Chinese researchers in the field of immunology. The Academy’s funding contribution to Finnish researchers within the collaboration comes to slightly more than EUR 2 million. The research projects receive funding for three years. The objective is to promote immunology research cooperation between Finland, Germany and China.

German Research Foundation supports research project on vaccination behaviour. The German Research Foundation grants a research project titled "An interdisciplinary approach to explain and decrease vaccine hesitancy". The project under the lead of Robert Bohm and Cornelia Betsch will be funded for 3 years and receives funding of almost 400,000 Euro. The researcher will apply methods and theories of behavioural economics, psychology, and epidemiology to investigate human vaccination behaviour. They are going to conduct laboratory and online experiments as well as simulation studies.
