Vienna

Vienna, the capital of Austria is the 7th largest city of Austria and also its economic and cultural centre. The city is having an area of 414.65 square kilometres and with a population of 18,26,030. Vienna is known as “The city of dreams”. The city lies in the east of Austria and is close to the borders of the Slovakia, Hungary and Czech Republic.  The city centre was designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site in the year 2001. According to the Economist Intelligence Unit’s 2005 analysis “The city of music” ranked first among the world’s 127 most liveable cities. The UN-Habitat has classified Vienna as being the most prosperous city in the world in 2012/2013. Between 2005 and 2010, Vienna was the world's number-one destination for international congresses and conventions. Vienna is host to many major international organizations, including the United Nations and OPEC.

Pharmaceuticals

Pharmaceutical Growth rate in Austria is forecast to accelerate to 1.8% in 2016 and 1.9% in 2017, after expanding by a moderate 0.6% over the past four years. This modest recovery comes after a long period of near-stagnation; Austria's economy grew by just 2.9% between 2008 and 2015.

Nursing

According to market analysis, in the Austrian hospitals were over 2015. 89,299 workers as non-medical professionals employed, including 55,026 people in the service sector upscale services for health and medical care, 14,946 people worked in the Advertisement of Medical-Technical Services and the medical technical services and14, 837people were active in the nursing aid and medical assistance services. Immunology

The global immunology treatment market is set to expand from $61.5 billion in 2015 to reach $74.2 billion in 2022. The immunology treatment market’s Compound Annual Growth Rate (CAGR) will equal a relatively stable 2.71%, due to practical and regulatory barriers to entry for biosimilars that are not present for small molecule generics, and a moderately strong late-stage pipeline.

Neuroscience

Global neuroscience market size was valued at USD 24.09 billion in 2013 and is expected to grow at a CAGR of 2.9%, by 2016 the growth rate would be USD 27.09 billion and by 2020 the figures would be reaching USD 30.08 billion. Key growth factors are associated with the neuroscience market include rising R&D in neuro informatics for the development of efficient tools and algorithms to enhance brain structurally and functional mapping.

Cancer

The absolute number of cancer cases has increased continuously during the last decades in Austria. This trend will also continue in the near future based on the ageing of the population as cancer is primarily a disease of the elderly. The number of people aged 65 and older will increase strongly from 1.57 million in 2014 to 2.17 million in 2030 (+38%). Newly diagnosed cancer cases will increase from 38 218 cases in 2009 to 41 299 in 2020 (+8%) and to 43 706cases in 2030 (+14%). During the same period, the absolute number of cancer deaths will increase from 19 547 deaths in 2009 to 20 897 in 2020 (+7%) and to 22 707 cancer deaths in 2030 (+16%).

Engineering

Engineering industry will once again be in the vanguard of growth in the years 2014/15, posting an average increase of six percent. It is the most important industrial sector in Austria, accounting for 14 percent of total industrial value creation (compared to the EU27 average of eleven percent). Accordingly, Austria ranks among the most specialized European countries in the field of engineering along with Germany, Denmark, Sweden and Italy.

Cardiology

Cardiovascular disease accounts for more than 2 million deaths and costs the economy more than EUR 192 billion annually. Research in this area continues under Horizon 2020. They account for 30 % of deaths worldwide, according to the World Health Organisation and 42 % in the EU. Fortunately, research focusing on the causes, diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of CVD is moving ahead rapidly. Research on different aspects of CVD has been funded since the beginning of the European Commission's framework programmes (FPs) for research and technological development. The total EU contribution is estimated to be over $183 million.
